Catfish Fry moved to California at the age of 13 and worked in many different jobs, always striving to support his blues habit. He never smoked, drank, or was very self-abusive; he just liked hanging out around the local blues venues, listening to artists such as Joe Houston, Whiteboy James and James Harmon.

Catfish Fry was heavily influenced by early traditional bluesmen like:
Son-house, Robert Johnson, Lightning Hopkins, J.B. Hutto, Howlin' Wolf, and Elmore James.

Catfish also spent some time with Pappa John Creach, Smokey Wilson and Steve Samules. He currently plays in the local South Bay and L.A. Area doing private parties, band gig's and entertaining.

Catfish uses standard and open tunings in all keys. And plays a myriad of guitars, among them, kaypoed, dobro and slide. Catfish sometimes plays a guitar from 1897 to get the old sound.

"The best way to keep the blues alive is: To Play The Blues."
